Actor Corey Haim was found dead in Burbank at the age of 38. Haim apparently died Wednesday morning at 2:15am at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.
An autopsy will determine the cause of death, but there are no other details. The Canadian-born actor became a teen star in the 80s with such films as [...]
My favorite time of year is upon us, the Independent Film Festival of Boston 2010 is just around the corner. And the best just got better, the festival has expanded to eight days this year! The festival starts Wednesday April 21st, and ends Wednesday, April 28th.
The Opening Night film for the 2010 Festival will be [...]
So the awards season has officially come to a close, and ‘The Hurt Locker’ comes out on top with six awards in total, including Best Picture and Best Director. Honestly, the results were no surprise, we’ve heard nothing but Hurt Locker buzz for the past few weeks. Though my personal opinion holds that I feel [...]
There is no way to get past how ridiculous Matt Damon looks in ‘The Informant.’ He’s gained weight, changed his hair, and fits the role of the awkward bi-polar whistleblower perfectly. I just wanted to get the obligatory “oh my god Matt Damon is so fat” out of the way. ‘The Informant!’ is a comedy [...]
‘Children of Invention’ is Tze Chun’s debut feature film, which was based on his short “Windowbreaker,” a short that played at the Sundance Film Festival. We were fortunate enough to see ‘Invention’ first at IFFBoston, and are happy to see it open at the Brattle Theater in Cambridge this week.
‘Children of Invention,’ tells the story [...]
On the red carpet for ‘Shutter Island,’ Scorsese gave a little tidbit that a lot of people will be happy to hear, it seems quite possible that he will follow up ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret’ with the long awaited Sinatra biopic.
Scorsese told a Hollywood Reporter Blogger that “Frank will do the singing. But we’re [...]
‘Shutter Island’ Scorsese’s latest masterpiece is a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, and Ben Kingsley, based on the novel by Dennis Lehane.
Set on Shutter Island in Boston Harbor, 1954, the film begins with two Federal Marshals on a boat, heading to Ashecliffe Hospital to assist in finding an escaped patient. Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) [...]
Rob Kutner, one of our favorite contributors has just released a video parodying the ‘Wolfman’ remake called “Wolfman, DDS,” starring Kutner, Sheryl Zohn, and Will Forte. The video is a promo for his upcoming NYC Purim Sketch show “The Shushan Channel” February 27th, 2010 at 92Y Tribeca.
If you live in the NYC area you should [...]
‘Across a 110th Street’ is a 1972 film directed by Barry Shear, and starring Anthony Quinn and Yaphet Kotto. I hadn’t heard of the film (though I’d heard the song) until a trailer festival I went to a few months back. The film looked gritty, violent, and right up my alley, so I threw it [...]
There has been a little bit of a controversy amongst some of my friends in regards to ‘District 9′ and its nomination for Best Picture. Although I’ll admit, the genre and class of film it was is not something that you ordinarily see up for such an award like Best Picture, but here I’ll try [...]
‘Crazy Heart’ is one of those movies that sorta came out of nowhere. I feel like I hadn’t heard very much about it until nearing the Golden Globes (bad movie blogger!). When Bridges took the Best Actor Golden Globe, and the song ‘Weary Kind’ taking Best Song, I knew I’d better get myself to a [...]
Scorsese has announced his next film, an adaptation of ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret,’ to begin lensing in June.
The book tells the story of a child orphan, who was working to fix a Mechanical Man. After his death, Hugo, attempts to complete is fathers work in a 1930s Parisian train station. Written by Brian Selznick [...]
