‘My Name is Bruce’ Preview
February 29, 2008
If you’re like me, you think Bruce Campbell is the man. He is a talented actor given the right material, he exudes a coolness about him and he also maintains an everyman persona that doesn’t make him seem like you couldn’t relate to him. His career has been riddled with hits and misses, ranging from the awful ‘Alien Apocalypse’ to the amazing ‘Bubba-Ho-Tep.’ Through it all, his B-movie actor status hasn’t budged and his career continues on its path of making “maybe I’ll see it, maybe I won’t” films. However, Campbell is separated from the pack of B-movie actors because of his cult status (thanks, in large part, to his role as Ash in the Evil Dead trilogy), making him an icon for a large group of film-goers. This iconic status brings us to his latest feature, ‘My Name is Bruce.’

PSP Review: Patapon
February 29, 2008
I like it, I can’t tell you why, but I like it. There’s something strangely addicting about hitting buttons to a beat, like a pringle, I just can’t have one. It’s music, its cartoonish 2D environment, it draws me to it pata pata pata pon, pon pon pata pon.
Oh right, I gotta write this review. There’s been some hype around this PSP release from the makers of LocoRoco. The game play is simple, and the story, interestingly deeper than you think. It’s about a tribe of people known as Patapon, a group that flourished until they were defeated by the evil Zigaton tribe. Their God, the Patapon, uses war drums to direct the tribe back to their home land.
Hype - March Edition: Rainbow Six Vegas 2
February 29, 2008
A little feature I’m going to start doing is to talk a bit about what game I’m most hyped up for, for the month of March that distinction goes to none other then Ubisoft’s upcoming sequel, Rainbow Six Vegas 2.
It’s predecessor should no doubt receive some achievement award for being one of the most underrated games of 2006. With its tactical, at times, white-knuckle multiplayer action, I found myself addicted for months. There’d be nights where I’d get home from work, power the 360 on, and play until 2am. My girlfriend at the time literally had to have an intervention…okay maybe it wasn’t that bad.
DVD: ‘The Darjeeling Limited’
February 29, 2008

Just out this week on DVD is Wes Anderson’s newest film ‘The Darjeeling Limited’ and I eagerly purchased it. I had recently watched ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ so I had high hopes for this Anderson creation. To say I was very pleased with the movie would be an overstatement, but I did enjoy it.

New ‘Iron Man’ Trailer
February 29, 2008
The latest ‘Iron Man’ trailer has hit the web after debuting on Lost last night. So far it
can be found in HD on MySpace and IGN. My recommendation is IGN as MySpace takes forever and a day to load and you may need an account. IGN’s picture quality isn’t as good, but you’ll actually get to finish watching the whole trailer before the film comes out.
This trailer gives us a much better sense of the movie and damn if it doesn’t look like it’s going to be fun. I still really wish they’d stop using the song Iron Man, but outside of that, this film is shaping up to be a great summer blockbuster. The film opens May 2nd.
Cannes Premiere for Indy IV
February 29, 2008
Pack your tux Dr. Jones your bound for the Riviera. Like “giddy little school boys,” we’re waiting for this movie, while Spielberg’s scoring and editing the movie, it has been announced that May 18th, just days before its premiere, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will be unspooling at the Cannes Film Festival.
Pack your bags and your fedora, this is gonna be one heck of a ride, for your wallet that is, airlines ain’t cheap.
Live Nation Reports 4th Quarter Loss
February 29, 2008
Variety reports that Live Nation Inc, the nations largest live event and venue management company, is reporting a net loss of $18.4 million, citing lower revenue due to fewer big-ticket artists staged tours.
Is this a bad thing? Personally, I think as we were reporting earlier on the lack of teens buying CDs, the only way these companies are going to post profit is by turning to live shows. How do you make the most of a live show? Hold it in a huge venue, and charge upwards of 50 bucks a head. Is this a good experience for the consumer? Hell no. If I want to watch a performer on a giant TV, I’ll buy a DVD stay at home and sit real close to mine (I don’t have a giant TV).
I’m no business analyst, but when companies like this start doing poorly, its a reflection of our economy, mixed in with bad choices made by the company. Maybe the consumer is just tired of these “big-ticket” shows, and paying fees on top of the ticket when buying it through Ticketmaster.
Live Nation is on a better track then the RIAA and the big record companies, because, there is money in live performance, but, with the dollar falling, people perhaps are weary to spend top dollar for first row Christina Aguilera tickets. Hannah Montana tickets? Well, now we’re talking.
Wahlberg Pops A DiCaprio In Your …
February 28, 2008
Rumors are a flying at the posibility of Mark Wahlberg and Leonardo DiCaprio doing a live action movie based on the documentary ‘Cocaine Cowboy.’ These rumors are flying despite the fact that DiCaprio has said that they are untrue. Do I think DiCap is telling the truth? Pssh! If I believed everything Leonardo said then I would all be worried about this “global warming” crap he keeps droning on about. Besides, even if global warming were true, the only thing it effects are the penguins, and they can just fly to Santas house to hang out with him and Jesus if it gets too hot.
My expert opinion is that this is as true as koalas are the most adorable export of Australia. Check back for further developments.

Maxim Magazine Eats Crowes
February 28, 2008
Put your helmet on and sit down because this may blow your mind: Maxim magazine is not the place to go for journalistic integrity. The magazine has come under fire from The Black Crowes and their management for issuing a review of the band’s upcoming album, ‘Warpaint.’ The problem? Maxim magazine gave a mediocre rating (2 and a half stars out of 5) to an album it couldn’t have listened to in its entirety because it was not available at the time.
Maxim editor James Kaminsky admitted to the mistake and the magazine issued an apology to the Crowes and the readers of the magazine. In his apology he noted that the album should not have had a rating due to it being a preview instead of a review. They had only heard a few tracks.
The saddest part of this story? Maxim magazine will probably have lost out on the chance for this year’s Pulitzer Prize and this is probably the most attention ‘Warpaint’ will probably get.
‘Love Guru’ Trailer
February 28, 2008
The trailer for ‘Love Guru’ is now on line. The movie stars Mike Meyers (Pikta) dressed up in a costume again, but this time he is a spiritual leader helping the Toronto Maple Leafs. This is going to be a tough sell because who still cares about Mike Meyers or hockey? I am unsure how to react to this movie. Is Mike Meyers 3 years too late to continue the Mike Meyers thing? How do I respond to this? My life is hard.
Anyway, here is the trailer. Tell me what to think. But don’t tell me anything stupid like I feel you were going to.

‘Get Born Again’ Gets Its Star
February 28, 2008
The fact that this was even an idea being kicked around was a surprise to me, but not only is there apparently an upcoming biopic on Layne Staley titled, ‘Get Born Again’, but according to the film’s MySpace page, it has found its star. Lathan McKay (Who? Exactly.) has been tagged to portray troubled singer from the band Alice in Chains in the film, which is based on the book of the same name by author Adriana Rubio.
Outside of this tidbit, there seems to be zero information on this film. All I have to go on is the film’s annoying MySpace page and Amazon’s 2 star rating of the book which is, again, the basis of the film. I’m getting the sense that direct-to-video is probably too classy of a release for this one. My bet? It’s released on a ViewMaster. If at all. This has to be a hoax, right?
